Parents and students often consider after-school learning centers when seeking support with mathematics. While working with these national brands can undeniably help, I generally do not recommend them to parents looking for the best results. Working at such corporations for two years has reinforced my opinion that independent tutoring almost always provides faster progress at a lower price.

Student Testimonials

“I had the pleasure of working with Jacob as my tutor for Calculus II and III, and honestly, I don’t know if I could have passed those courses without him. No matter how attentive I was in lecture, it never compared to the clarity and conceptual insights I gained during our one-on-one sessions. Jacob helped me move beyond just getting through a homework set or textbook section—he guided me toward a real understanding and intuition for these challenging concepts. I’m truly grateful. Thanks, Jacob!”

“Jacob tutored me in my Precalculus class last year to help me prepare for my final. He clearly understood the material and explained it to me in a way that made the math make so much more sense. Jacob related the math concepts to real-life situations, which helped me understand them better. Jacob was always patient and willing to go over things as many times as I needed to understand. His clear teaching style made me feel more confident in math. He is such a kind person who truly wants to help others succeed and understand the subject!”

We’ve had such a positive experience working with Jacob Drum. My daughter had been struggling with some areas of her Alg 2 class and her Calculus class— not just keeping up, but with really understanding the concepts. What stood out most was how he didn’t just focus on getting the right answers, but took the time to uncover where her misconceptions were coming from. He explained things in a way that finally made sense to her. Over the weeks we saw her grades grow, but more importantly, she began to feel capable and confident. Jacob has a calm, encouraging approach that really clicked with my daughter, and we’re so grateful for the progress she’s made with his support. I can confidently recommend him to any parent looking for a tutor who not only improves performance, but helps their child truly understand the subject.

“Jacob was super helpful to me while taking Calculus. He really takes the time to fully explain everything within a problem before moving on to the next step so that you understand. He relates the math to real world applications and is probably the main reason I got an A in the class. I would highly recommend his services.”

“Math has always been the bane of my existence. I would face each math class I took since high school with a certain level of dread. My engagement with the material did not extend outside of the classroom and I wouldn’t seek to challenge myself. Jacob was the first tutor who approached me with a curiosity for my relationship with math. He worked with me and the questions I had from the core of what’s the problem was asking, then explaining the steps to solving and why. This style of teaching made working with problems in midterms and the final easily approachable, while instilling a confidence and an interest in learning more and challenging myself. The support I got and the way Trigonometry was approached and the genuine interactions with meeting me where I was at with math without judgment made math fun. And I did shockingly well in that class.
